ATI TEAS

The ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is a standardized entrance exam used by many nursing and allied health programs to assess a candidate's readiness for the academic demands of a healthcare program. It is administered by ATI Testing.

Visit atitesting.com to create an account, then select your preferred test date and testing location. There is an exam fee that must be paid before your registration is confirmed. Some nursing schools also offer on-campus testing — check with your program.

The TEAS 7 has four sections:
  • Reading — 55 minutes, 45 questions (key ideas, craft & structure, integration of knowledge)
  • Math — 57 minutes, 38 questions (numbers & algebra, measurement & data)
  • Science — 60 minutes, 50 questions (anatomy & physiology, biology, chemistry, scientific reasoning)
  • English & Language Usage — 37 minutes, 37 questions (conventions, knowledge of language, vocabulary)

The sections are always in this order: Reading → Math → Science → English & Language Usage. You get an optional 10-minute break between Math and Science. Once you move to the next section, you cannot go back to a previous one.

You receive individual section scores and a composite score. Only scored questions count (each section includes a few unscored pilot questions). Most nursing programs require a composite score between 60% and 80%, though requirements vary by school. Higher scores improve your admission chances.

You cannot bring your own calculator. ATI provides an on-screen calculator for the Math section only. Practice doing basic calculations by hand to prepare for questions where the calculator may not be available.

We recommend 4–6 weeks of focused study. Start by taking a diagnostic practice test to identify weak areas, then focus your study time on those subjects. Use Keslaly's TEAS Question Bank to practice with realistic exam-style questions and detailed explanations. Review your performance analytics to track improvement over time.

The Keslaly TEAS Q-Bank contains hundreds of expert-crafted practice questions covering all four TEAS sections. Each question includes a detailed explanation of the correct answer. You can practice in multiple modes including timed tests, subject-specific drills, and full-length mock exams.

Yes. You can create custom practice tests by section or take full-length mock exams that simulate the real TEAS testing experience. Our practice modes include timed and untimed options, and you can review all answers with explanations after completing a test.

Yes. Keslaly tracks which questions you've answered incorrectly, and you can filter to practice only missed questions. This is one of the most effective ways to strengthen weak areas before your exam.

Most testing programs allow you to retake the TEAS after a waiting period (typically 30 days). Check with your specific nursing program for their retake policy. Use the time between attempts to focus on your weakest sections using Keslaly's TEAS prep.

Our questions are designed to closely mirror the format, difficulty, and content areas of the actual ATI TEAS exam. While we cannot guarantee identical questions, our users consistently report that Keslaly's questions prepared them well for the real test. Check out our student reviews to see what others say.

HESI A2

The HESI A2 (Health Education Systems, Inc. Admission Assessment) is a standardized entrance exam used by many nursing programs to evaluate prospective students' academic readiness. It is developed by Elsevier and covers both academic knowledge and critical thinking skills.

The HESI A2 can include up to 9 subjects, though most schools only require a subset:
  • Math — basic math, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions
  • Reading Comprehension — identifying main ideas, making inferences
  • Vocabulary & General Knowledge
  • Grammar — parts of speech, sentence structure
  • Biology — cellular biology, genetics, photosynthesis
  • Chemistry — atoms, chemical reactions, solutions
  • Anatomy & Physiology — body systems, organ functions
  • Physics — motion, energy, waves (less commonly required)
  • Critical Thinking (less commonly required)
Check with your nursing program to confirm which sections you need.

Each section is scored individually on a scale of 0–100%. There is also a cumulative score that averages your section scores. Most nursing programs require a cumulative score of 75%–80% or higher, but requirements vary by school.

You typically cannot bring your own calculator. An on-screen calculator is provided for the Math section. Practice your mental math and estimation skills to feel confident on test day.

Start with a practice test to identify your weak areas, then dedicate focused study time to those subjects. Use Keslaly's HESI A2 Question Bank with 600+ exam-style practice questions and detailed explanations. We recommend 3–5 weeks of consistent study.

The Keslaly HESI A2 Q-Bank features 600+ practice questions covering all the commonly tested HESI A2 subjects. Each question comes with a step-by-step explanation. You can practice by subject, take full mock exams, and track your performance over time.

Yes. Our HESI A2 prep covers all 9 subjects including Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Physics, and Critical Thinking. You can focus your practice on the specific subjects your program requires.

Most programs allow retakes after a waiting period (often 30–60 days). Some schools limit the number of retake attempts. Use the interval to strengthen weak subjects with Keslaly's HESI A2 prep and focus on areas where your score was lowest.

Registration is handled through your nursing school or testing center — the HESI A2 is not offered publicly through a central website like the TEAS. Contact your school's admissions office for test dates, required sections, and registration instructions.

Our questions are crafted by nursing education experts to closely mirror the style, difficulty, and content of the actual HESI A2 exam. Students consistently tell us that practicing with Keslaly gave them confidence on test day. Read their stories on our Reviews page.

NCLEX

The NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) is the standardized exam that all nursing graduates must pass to earn their nursing license in the United States and Canada. There are two versions: NCLEX-RN for registered nurses and NCLEX-PN for practical/vocational nurses.

The NCLEX-RN is for graduates of associate or bachelor's degree nursing programs seeking licensure as a Registered Nurse. The NCLEX-PN is for graduates of practical/vocational nursing programs seeking licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Both use computerized adaptive testing (CAT) and include NGN items.

The NCLEX uses Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT), meaning the difficulty adjusts based on your answers. The NCLEX-RN has between 75 and 145 questions with a 5-hour time limit. The NCLEX-PN has between 85 and 150 questions with a 5-hour time limit. Approximately 20% of scored items are Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) questions.

NGN questions are designed to assess your clinical judgment and decision-making skills. They use innovative item types including:
  • Extended multiple response
  • Extended drag-and-drop
  • Cloze (drop-down) questions
  • Matrix/grid questions
  • Highlight text
  • Bowtie questions
Some NGN items offer partial credit. Keslaly includes all these question types in our NCLEX prep.

The NCLEX-RN tests four client need categories:
  • Safe and Effective Care Environment — Management of Care (17–23%), Safety and Infection Control (9–15%)
  • Health Promotion and Maintenance (6–12%)
  • Psychosocial Integrity (6–12%)
  • Physiological Integrity — Basic Care (6–12%), Pharmacological Therapies (12–18%), Reduction of Risk Potential (9–15%), Physiological Adaptation (11–17%)

  1. Apply for licensure with your state board of nursing
  2. Register for the exam with Pearson VUE at pearsonvue.com/nclex
  3. Receive your Authorization to Test (ATT) via email
  4. Schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE testing center
Most students schedule their exam 4–8 weeks after receiving their ATT to allow adequate study time.

Most successful test-takers study for 4–8 weeks with consistent daily practice. We recommend 2–4 hours per day of active practice using a question bank like Keslaly's NCLEX prep. Focus on understanding rationales, not just memorizing answers.

Keslaly offers 1,000+ NGN-ready practice questions for both NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN. Every question includes a step-by-step explanation, and you can practice in multiple modes — by topic, by question type, timed exams, or missed questions only. Our performance dashboard helps you track readiness over time.

Yes. Keslaly supports 12+ NGN question types including extended multiple response, drag-and-drop, cloze drop-down, matrix/grid, highlight, bowtie, and more. Practicing these question types is essential since NGN items make up about 20% of the scored NCLEX. Learn more on our Features page.

A bowtie question is a drag-and-drop item where you identify a condition in the center, then select two actions on one side and two parameters to monitor on the other side. It tests your ability to connect assessment findings with appropriate nursing interventions. Keslaly includes bowtie practice questions in our NCLEX Q-Bank.

The CAT algorithm adjusts question difficulty based on your answers. When you answer correctly, the next question gets harder; when you answer incorrectly, it gets easier. The test ends when the algorithm determines with 95% confidence whether you are above or below the passing standard, or when you reach the maximum number of questions or time limit.

Yes. You receive an optional break after the first 2 hours and another after 3.5 hours. Break time counts against your total 5-hour exam time. You can also request an unscheduled break at any time, but it will also count against your time.

You can retake the NCLEX after a 45-day waiting period. You'll receive a Candidate Performance Report (CPR) showing your strengths and weaknesses by content area. Use this report to guide your study plan and focus on weak areas with Keslaly's NCLEX Q-Bank. There is no limit on the number of retake attempts.

Absolutely. Our performance tracking helps you identify exactly where you need to improve. You can filter questions by topic, focus on areas flagged on your CPR, and use our missed-questions mode to reinforce weak areas. Many repeat test-takers have passed with Keslaly after previously unsuccessful attempts. See their stories on our Reviews page.

Yes. You can take full-length timed mock exams that simulate the NCLEX testing experience. These help you build stamina, practice time management, and assess your overall readiness. After each mock exam, you can review every question with detailed explanations.
